Outback 6 Six Place Jet-like Airplane. We think that getting six people to a long distance destination fast and on their own schedule is a great idea. But we think there may be a more affordable way to accomplish this goal. What if we built a streamlined, swept-wing airframe that carries the same six people in comfort as the Very Light Jets (VLJ), but equiped it with two powerful rotary engines driving highly efficient propellers instead? Well we could reduce the purchase price by about $1.2 million, reduce the operating costs to a fraction, lower the insurance costs substantially, and enable pilots with a multi-engine rating to fly it. Would you give up a little speed and altitude for that kind of economy? We can bring jet-like capacity and distance to all those who can't justify the cost of a jet. The Outback 6 is being built now. At right is a jig for laying up the center part of the fueslage composite skin. But we are still more than a year away from having the Outback 6 ready.
